Explore welcoming spaces crafted to enrich your rainforest experience.
Step into Veragua Rainforest through our beautifully designed entrance where modern architecture blends seamlessly with lush greenery. The Park was the recipient of a sustainable architecture award upon its opening.
The Sky Gondola allows guests to journey from the top of the mountain down to the riverbank while surrounded by the rainforest. Wildlife viewings are frequent.
Enjoy a taste of Costa Rica at our open-air dining facility. Savor local dishes and ingredients surrounded by the sounds of nature.
Veragua and the surrounding area are home to the most diverse number of frog species in Middle America, and the park carefully teaches guests about rainforest frogs in carefully curated environments. See large bull frogs-- and smaller critters the size of a fingernail!
With native snakes and reptiles, these exhibits feature boa constrictors and fascinating venomous and non-venomous rainforest creatures (at a safe distance!)
Veragua’s comfortable walking trails allow visitors of all mobility types to easily access the rainforest. (Tours are generally wheelchair and scooter accessible.)
More vigorous hiking trails are featured on certain tours and available for overnight guests, letting guests access the hidden rainforest, similar to our researchers.
Our souvenir shop features remembrances of your visit to this enchanting region of Costa Rican. Items include coffee and chocolate, local handicrafts, keepsakes inspired by the rainforest, and a large variety of t-shirts, polos, hats, magnets and keychains.
Our canopy tour is one of the originals in the Caribbean and is world famous! Boasting 11 platforms with a longest span of 250 meters and a total length of one kilometer, our Original Canopy Tour® allows guests to soar high above a riverbank below while affording great wildlife viewing opportunities.
Veragua’s Butterfly Garden is one of the largest in Costa Rica. Enjoy a walk through the garden while surrounded by hundreds of butterflies, including the famous blue morpho!
The park is home to the Veragua Foundation (formally, The Foundation for Rainforest Research). Depending on the visit type, guests or students benefit from classroom opportunities with rainforest biologists who share details about scientific research conducted at the park.
Given the park’s location “off the grid”, Veragua invested in clean energy via solar panels and batteries. Remarkably, the vast majority of the park runs on solar energy today, even though it is located in the middle of the rainforest.
Not relying on noisy diesel generators is a better option for the Planet Earth-- and has facilitated the return of creatures sensitive to noise, such as hummingbirds, who have repopulated certain areas of the park, including right next to the Dining area!
In addition, the park’s existence protects the watershed in the rural area that surrounds the park.
The park is home to the 20-meter (60-foot) Puma Waterfall and the Victoria River that run through the park. Viewing platforms and trails provide easy access.
The Foundation’s biologists have created research ponds that facilitate the study of frogs and other amphibians. These ponds are accessible on certain tours or with a private guide and are especially interesting for biology lovers or birdwatchers.
(Notes: Resident prices can be viewed upon checkout. Proof of residency is required upon arrival at the park.)
