Veragua Rainforest: Tortuguero Canals

Begin your day by exploring the Tortuguero Canals, known as the “Costa Rican Amazon”, by riverboat, where you will glide along the river teaming with wildlife and take in firsthand great views of the local flora and fauna. Next, drive to the award-winning Veragua Rainforest, where you will experience the rainforest from a different perspective–by land and sky gondola where you will see amazing panoramic views of the rainforest canopy. Also, you will enjoy frog and snake exhibits, our butterfly garden, and visit the Veragua Foundation for Rainforest Research.

07:30

Sustainability Tour

Experience local culture and contribute to global sustainability. Walk through an organic orchard. Visit a small dairy farm to learn about local milk production and (if willing) milk a cow! Help prepare your own snack and planting a tree.

05:00

Tortuguero Canals, Cocoa & Chocolate Experience

Prepare for an entertaining and interactive presentation of cacao cultivation, production, and processing techniques, all done right in front of your eyes by an entertaining and educated cacao producer, whose family has cultivated this fruit for generations.

04:00

Nature observation & Birdwatching

In the mountains overlooking the Caribbean Sea lies the Veragua Rainforest mountain reserve, heralded by National Geographic for its beauty. Here, the Central American record for bird count was recorded, with 417 bird species identified in a 24-hour period!
