At Veragua Rainforest we are committed to the study and protection of the different species of flora and fauna.

All of our research projects are the result of joint work between Veragua Rainforest, the University of Costa Rica and other local and international institutions dedicated to the study and conservation of natural resources.

These projects aim to generate interest in the scientific community and involve naturalists and volunteers from around the world.

The park has a cable car where the visitor will feel in all its splendor the beauty of the primary forest in a unique journey, next to the crowns of huge trees over 300 years old.

An extremely well presented facility to see Costa Rica animals. We were amazed at the high quality of the facility and the exhibits at the Veragua Rainforest. First there are displays of reptiles and butterflies, followed by my favourite, a chance to walk around the Butterfly Garden where there are thousands flying around you. You then can take a tram to the rainforest floor.

Loved, loved, loved it! We did the zipline tour and I would highly recommend it. The guides are so wonderful! They are so friendly and attentive to your safety at all times. The views of the rainforest and rhe mountains and valley from the canopy cannot be beat. Tjere are 11 lines, and one of them is about 2 football fields long so you have time to look around (instead of worrying about running into a tree 🙂 ) Pura vida!!

Immersive Rainforest Experience. We visited Veragua as part of an excursion offered on our cruise ship. The park is really beautifully designed, with open-air facilities that take in expansive views and include educational exhibits. Our tour guide, Eliza, was friendly and informative. It was a pleasantly rainy day to walk down to the waterfall and enjoy the gondola ride through the rainforest canopy. We saw many little frogs and frog eggs, a blue Morpho butterfly and a little sloth curled up in a tree. The clouded mountain views were just beautiful. It was literally awesome to spend a little time in this unique and special place on our planet.

Hidden gem. The beauty of this place is breathtaking. As we drove on unpaved roads to reach this gem, it was amazing to see the community. After some time we arrive at the forest! Our guide Marco made our visit! His knowledge and fun personality made the journey fun. He had another guide from Tortuguero on this trip and together they pointed out different birds. We saw crabs, owls, frogs and snakes! Thank you Marco for an amazing experience.

Our Location

Veragua Rainforest is located 12 kilometers south of the Liverpool entrance on Route 32.
We recommend tourists to arrive by private organized transportation.
Part of the journey is on a gravel road, however any type of vehicle can travel.
If you want to take a taxi, we recommend doing it from Downtown Limón.
