To offer each visitor the best tropical rainforest experience in the Caribbean Basin, with the highest quality of service, along with a firm commitment to support the development of our local communities and to promote education, research, and respect for the environment.
To be a worldwide model for tourist attractions in terms of conservation, research, and sustainability.
The Veragua Rainforest began in 2004 as the initiative of a group of young Costa Rican entrepreneurs who believed in conservation, and who decided to create a nature experience with world-class service but with a very low environmental impact. They bet on the development of the Province of Limón, with the goal of promoting tourism in the historically poor province-- and with an objective to help transform the area into a leading destination in the Caribbean.
They formed and led a group of capable and committed individuals, earned the trust of organizations, authorities, lenders and investors, and persevered in spite of countless challenges along the way. After more than four years of hard work, the Veragua Rainforest opened its doors on July 4th, 2008.
Today, more than five years later, the Veragua Rainforest Eco-Adventure still has as its goal to move a region, historically devoted to hunting and the lumber industry, towards conservation as a means to development and prosperity.
Educating visitors and locals about the rainforest and biodiversity in a fun, enriching and active environment provides the means to achieve our objective.
